Blokes at the Station (BATS)

Blokes at the Station (BATS) is a men’s ministry initiative of Darwin Baptist Church, designed to build strong, authentic relationships among men of all ages—especially between fathers and sons, mentors and young men, and mates sharing the journey of faith.

Set against the backdrop of the Northern Territory's rugged outdoors, "The Station" serves as both a symbolic and physical space for connection—camping trips, fishing, and spiritual retreats. These gatherings offer a relaxed, natural environment for meaningful conversation, spiritual growth, and mutual support.

Purpose

  • To create a safe, faith-centred space where men can explore what it means to live with integrity, purpose, and godly leadership.

  • To bridge generations, building respect, accountability, and love between older and younger men, especially fathers and sons.

  • To equip men to be present, prayerful, and proactive in their families, their work, and their communities.

Event

  • Weekend Retreat: Outdoor experiences where men disconnect from distractions and reconnect with God and each other.

  • Skill-Sharing Sessions: Workshops where men teach practical skills (like fishing, farm maintenance, or bush cooking) in ways that encourage participation across generations.

  • Faith Builders: Short devotionals and discussions focused on themes like courage, responsibility, forgiveness, and servant leadership.

Outcomes

  • Deeper connections between dads and sons

  • Increased emotional and spiritual resilience in men

  • Stronger sense of community and accountability

  • Encouragement in navigating manhood with Biblical values
